Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.5
Hollow Lantern is slow in the best way. You wander a quiet mountain town, lighting lamps and piecing together what happened to the people who left. There's no combat and no fail state, just curiosity pulling you from one room to the next.
The puzzles are environmental and fair, built around light and shadow. A couple made me put the phone down and think, which I always welcome. The sound design deserves a shout too, wind and creaking wood doing a lot of the storytelling.
It's a short experience, maybe three hours, but it stayed with me afterward. If you want something calm and atmospheric for a rainy evening, this is an easy recommendation.
